Founder’s Story
Hello, my name is Lkhagvadorj Purevdorj, but you can simply call me Dorj.
Before anything else, I would like to briefly introduce myself and share why I chose to become a tour guide and dedicate my life to the tourism industry.
I was born in 1985 in Tarialan soum, Khuvsgul province, in the northernmost part of Mongolia. I am the third son in a herder family with six children. My childhood was spent on horseback, herding sheep and helping my grandparents and parents with daily livestock work. I remember those days as busy, active, and deeply connected to nature.
In 2003, after graduating from high school in my hometown, I moved to Ulaanbaatar (capital city of Mongolia) for the first time and began studying Food Technology at the Mongolian University of Science and Technology. Moving from the countryside to the capital city completely changed my environment. I met many new people, learned from inspiring teachers, and slowly began to see the world from a different perspective.
After graduating in 2008, I worked as an assistant cook in a restaurant in the city. During that time, I became friends with an Indian colleague named Kumar, who played an important role in my life. Through our friendship, I began learning English. Since then, I have continued improving my English through my own dedication and effort.
In 2012, I attended a professional tour guide training program and completed it successfully. Even though my English was not very strong at the time, I guided my first tourists that year. From that moment, I discovered my true passion. I realized that tourism was not just a job for me — it was something that truly fit who I am.
Since then, I have worked as a tour guide for several travel companies, gaining valuable experience and building strong connections with travelers from around the world.
In 2025, I founded my own company, Donzoi Tours. In a short period of time, we have been able to grow steadily and operate successful tours with pride and responsibility.
Today, I live in Ulaanbaatar with my wife and our three children, continuing to share Mongolia’s beauty, culture, and nomadic heritage with travelers from around the world.
